John Mayer’s penis is not post-racial…

Several folks have asked a bitch to comment about John Mayer’s penis and it’s white supremacist behavior.

I could have lived my entire life happy as hell without the image of John Mayer’s penis sporting a white hood during a Klan rally.

Wince.

But lots of folks have been talking about Mayer’s bigoted penis…and his home training fail interview for Playboy in which he indulged in a session of TMI disclosures above and beyond his confession that his penis is not post-racial.

A confession – A bitch could be behind John Mayer at the Walgreens and my ass wouldn’t recognize him.

And a question - If a frustrated failed blues guitarist who is unable to handle the success of his soft rock career, because he hasn’t let go of the unrealistic Slowhand fantasy he developed while attending Berklee, has a home training fail in the forest did it really even happen?

Blink.

***logs off to purge the sound of Mr. Say What You Need to Say’s music from my Afro with a dose of B. B. King followed by a dash of Buddy Guy***

Leaving Mayer out completely, this writer believes that it's impossible to embrace equal rights without allowing personal physical attraction.

In other words, if you're not sexually attracted to black men (or women), you're inherently racist, no matter how many Equality Now! signs you hold up at protests. What are your thoughts on that?

I am going to go out on a limb here saying that I am not so sure that in the scale of racist crap going on which can have serious impact on things such as public policy or the well-being of whole communities, what this guy said is truly racist, racist enough to really matter, or he's just a fool who can't shut up.

Sexuality being as complex as it is, I am sure that there are many variables to who people of different ethnicity, social class, age, etc. I have known guys who date only Latinas or Asian women or women of a specific ethnic phenotype because "they have a thing for Latinas" or whatever. And that can be as disturbing (or more so) as "I don't date them because I don´t feel attracted to them."

I see it more as an issue of, who cares who and why your dick is attracted to, Mr. Mayer? I mean, really, why do some people think that this is an appropriate and agreeable topic of public interest?

Now, I do think that a discussion on the public impact of the N-word is ongoing and needs to be hashed out. People need to be brought to task for using it. We need to have public conversations on why it is wrong. I am not African American, yet I feel demeaned by it too. I feel offended for all my African American compatriots. I think that racial and discriminating slurs--no matter against whom--demean us all.

Hey 'Crete!

I disagree with that. In fact, if Mayer had simply said sistah's weren't his type I'd probably defend his ig'nant ass.

Attraction is individual and you know I'm not a fan of absolute statements. If a person isn't attracted to someone I'm cool with that - hell, I'm not attracted to lots of things about people.

The difference is equating that lack of attraction with some sense of value - i.e., I don't wanna get with that chick so she's gotta be lesser than.

I could go on and on, but to sum it up - no, I don't think someone needs to wanna sleep with me to be able to respect me as a woman of color.

Oh hell yeah Shark Fu! Buddy and The King can cure what ails ya when it comes to the white guy without a clue! Both are consummate showmen and blues legends that this brown bitch adores.

On a serious note..it's damn sad when a human opens his ignorant piehole and removes all doubt regarding an issue as important as race and equality. But it's not rocket science and he surely ain't a scientist..much less a human that appreciates equality among all the residents of this here planet.

Walks off humming Buddy's tune Skin Deep..

Aw, he sang that one too? Well it's all good, because I never knew who he was as I listened to his songs on the radio.
He was just tryin' to hold on to his white rep with the Playboy folks!
I'm a black woman and I'm attracted to beautify black chocolate, mocha, cafe au lait, but mainly dark chocolate men. Does that make me a racist?

I wish him all the confusion, the identity and existential crisis he's gonna go through the day his penis stirs for a woman of color.

Shark-Fu said...

Hey Anna...
Nope, I don't think that makes you a racist. It does, however, make you guilty of making me crave a chocolate bar (wink).

John Mayer is just another wannabee blues man loser.

Thanks, Shark-fu! And we ladies have a choice: either marshmallow or Tootsie Roll! The choice is not hard to make! I'm just sayin'

There are so many reasons John Mayer's comments horrify me, and they're mostly that I thought he was hot and his songs always got me horny. He just shrunk my penis, virtually speaking. You know what I have? I have a brain that doesn't like John Mayer now and a vagina that doesn't like him, either.

I'm with Shark Fu - I suppose it's one thing for him to say he isn't attracted to black women but another thing altogether for him to compare his penis to David Duke. Disgusting. What a freak. Anybody that has sex with him from this point forward is just plain desperate for attention of any kind. Yuck.

I thought this was pretty funny

In the end it's not John's fault, it's Jay-Z, Kanye, and all the other black people who let him hang out, drink with them, call him "my nigga" and let him feel so relaxed that he thought he could wax intellectual about hood passes and make bad jokes about why he doesn't sleep with black chicks.

Bingo. Especially when there's a raft of ignorami who don't know from Guy Davis out there willing to listen to him yammer on.

You can be sexually attracted to black people (or other POC) and still be racist. Fetishizing is sexual attraction.
Anyway, Mayer's a tool, as evidenced by the lyrics of "Your Body is a Wonderland."

There are two people in the celebrity world that I find to be perverted: Charlie Sheen and John Mayer. As a world and continental traveler, I can't walk into a Burger King without hearing about some girl whose sister John Mayer has "boinked". And it's not that I have anything against blondes, but it's always a ditzy, white chick that happens to share these anecdotes with everyone in line. This is when I started wondering, how many girls does John Mayer have to sleep with for the rumors to spread all the way to South Carolina. Never have I heard these stories coming from a mouth of a confident, self-asserted black woman. Be lucky that we haven't. Just be comfortable in the fact that a bimbo is a bimbo, and a groupie is a groupie.

He sounds like a very confused spoiled little brat to me, so why bother wondering?
It does raise some issues though.
SharkFu made a great point. . . I don't have ot be physically attracted to you to respect you as a human being. I don't have to be physically attracted to you to think of you as my equal.
"my dick is a white supremist?!" WTF?
Like I said, a confused and probably developmentally arrested little snot ball.

Like Miss Trudy said: "I think that racial and discriminating slurs--no matter against whom--demean us all."
What John Mayer said obviously reflects poorly on him but I think it also brings up an important issue i.e. equating a women's value based on her ethnicity and sexuality. Just because your attracted to someone because of their ethnicity does not mean you respect them. As a white guy in a relationship with an asian girl I have been made aware of the objectifying of women based on their ethnicity going on around me. If you've ever heard a guy friend talk about the "yellow fever" you know that some guys have a serious lack of self awareness and a deep seated sexism/racism. I completely agree with Sharkfu when they said: "I don't think someone needs to wanna sleep with me to be able to respect me as a woman of color."
Respect does not equal objectification. I never really liked John Mayer's music anyways.
